The wreck has has gotten its name from a metal plate that was found on it and which read John Gilmoure, but that is not the real name of the ship but an English engine producer of that time, and it is the name under which the wreck is known.
The ship lies at a depth of 44 metres. Although there is no much precise information about this merchant ship and the reason of the sinking, it is considered as one of the best perserved wrecks in the area.
